Must-Have Maternity Essentials for New Moms

With a new pregnancy comes having to buy a couple new things to adjust to the changes of your body. For example, drinking water is so important during all stages of your pregnancy and a tumbler comes in handy to help you remember to drink it during the day. I remember not drinking enough water one day during my second month of pregnancy and having such bad contractions I called my doctor in tears! In this post, I’ll be listing the top maternity essentials you need for a smooth nine months. These products will not only help your body and baby as the bump grows but will also help you feel good, which is just as important!

Maternity Essentials For Staying Hydrated

This Brita Stream Water Filter Pitcher is probably my favorite purchase on this list of maternity essentials. I used to drink sparkling water almost exclusively prior to pregnancy. Once I got pregnant I started buying bottled water but it was not sustainable and it was getting pricey. My best friend told me I was nuts for doing this and that I needed to buy myself a Brita pitcher. I had used them before and always found the water to have a bad taste but decided to give it another try. The Brita Stream Water Filter Pitcher is life changing. It’s better than the original filter because it filters the water as you pour for a fresher taste.

This Yeti tumbler is another must-have maternity essential for staying hydrated. I carry it with me everywhere I go, especially if I am leaving the house. It is dishwasher safe and keeps your beverages cold. I also make sure it’s filled before bed and leave it on my nightstand so I can easily take my morning pills from the bedroom.

Maternity Clothing Essentials

As you know, your boobs will grow throughout your pregnancy and your normal bras will no longer fit. During my first trimester, mine were really hurting, so I needed support 24/7. I found this bra and this bra to be very nice and comfortable. This strapless bra is great for a little more support. It’s also very similar to the fan favorite Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless and is less than half the price.

Additionally, these compression socks are great for your circulation and to help prevent varicose veins. I’ve been using these socks since my first trimester and they are great for both sitting and standing. Do not wear when laying down or sleeping.

I’ve lived in dresses this summer, but I always love a good pair of leggings in the evenings cuddled up on the couch. These are super comfortable and very affordable. I will be wearing them on repeat come fall.

Maternity Beauty & Health Products

I have been using this pill box since I began IVF. It’s a great way to remind you to take your daily pills. I fill mine every Sunday and it also allows me to look back and confirm I took the day’s pills.

Prenatal vitamins are so important for your baby’s development and making sure you get enough folic acid. This brand has worked for me and it’s easy to find.

I did a ton of research to find the perfect belly oil and moisturizer. The truth is, there are many great brands available. I really like this brand so far for their belly oil and belly lotion. Moisturize your belly every time you shower and the oil and lotion combination has been very soothing for the skin.

A good face wash makes a world of difference. I’ve been using this face wash for over two years and absolutely love it. It’s gentle on the skin and helps remove makeup.

Information on Motherhood

This book, Becoming Mama, has been instrumental in guiding me through my pregnancy. I found this book to be very informative and really liked the style of writing. It’s easy to understand and has short chapters. There is also a podcast you can listen to as well.

Important Note: Please consult with your healthcare provider about using these maternity essentials and check the ingredient list to make sure they are safe. Products often change their ingredients so it’s a good idea to double check.
