If you love French style like me then you must know that a French Beret is a must-have in your wardrobe. When you look at its history you will find it dates back to the 1800s and was widely used in the beginning of its creation by the military. In today’s culture it’s a symbol of classic French style.
I remember buying a red beret for my last trip to Paris and wearing it throughout, it really made me feel very Parisian, even if it’s seen as a cliche by some. In these pictures I’m wearing the beret I bought from Free People (sadly the red is sold out but I love the other colors and I’m sure the red will be restocked).
You can see the beret effect in the world of celebrities and film, most recently on the hit Netflix series, Emily in Paris.
Berets come in many different materials but the most classic and my favorite will always be the ones made of wool. The great thing about a beret is its versatility, you can dress it up or dress it down and it will always add that special touch to your overall look. My favorite ways to wear a beret is with a long tailored coat, or jeans paired with a white top or tweed blazer.
I’m listing a couple French Berets you can shop now and add to your classic accessories collection.
